It's Mother's Day

As I’ve gotten older, I often find myself wondering how one single day could ever truly be enough to celebrate mothers. Not because we need grand gestures or recognition, but because motherhood lives in every single day in between. It lives in the quiet sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the constant worrying, the guidance, the love, and the hope that somehow we are helping shape beautiful lives.

Time moves so fast. One moment you are holding their tiny hands, and before you know it, you are watching them navigate the world on their own. Along the way, I think every mother quietly asks herself the same questions: Did I do enough? Did I teach them well? Will they remember how deeply they were loved? Am I helping make their lives better?

Every day, we work endlessly to guide and raise our children and our families. The many hats we wear are immeasurable. We are protectors, teachers, cheerleaders, counselors, providers, and safe places to land when life becomes too heavy. Some days we feel strong, and other days we quietly sit alone wondering if we got it right.

But then come the moments that remind us.

The milestones. The laughter. The kindness they show others. The strength they carry into the world.

And suddenly, there it is — the reward for all the years of loving so hard.

We sit back smiling, sometimes quietly on the inside and sometimes proudly on the outside, watching everything they have become. It is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world. Even then, we never truly stop being mothers. We still worry. We still wonder if they need us. We still hope they know we are always there.

Motherhood does not end when children grow older. If we are lucky enough, we get the privilege of watching the chapters of their lives continue to unfold year after year. We watch them become parents themselves, and sometimes we laugh softly when we hear our own words come out of their mouths as they teach their own children the things we once taught them.

Being a mom is the most rewarding role I've taken on in life. It's a responsibility I will embrace with pride for as long as I can provide guidance, wisdom, comfort, laughter, or simply love. I hope my children always understand how incredible they are, as I couldn't be prouder of who they have become and continue to grow into in this vast world.

And when I look ahead, my greatest wish is simple: more moments, more memories, more laughter around the table, more stories shared, and more time watching the people I love continue to grow.

To all mothers — those nurturing infants, those guiding adult children, those who miss their own mothers, and those who embody love in every way — Happy Mother’s Day.

You are seen.

You are appreciated.

And the love you give matters more than you will ever know.
