8 Days until the ESB RunUp!!

January 29, 2018

I often find myself asking the question, "Who am I?" It's a question that we have all asked ourselves at one point in our life or another. But it is a much more complicated question than just "Who am I?" It's a question that can reach our inner core if we allow it too. It's a question that can stop us dead in our tracks, asking us to think twice about who we really are, what really drives us and what really makes us whole and complete. It's also a question that is not easily answered and may take many years to really know the TRUTH about ourselves.

During our life, we evolve into so many different characters in our own story, that we often lose sight of which character we REALLY are. We become lost, which leads us to ask ourselves the question, "Who am I?". It takes a lot of soul searching to find these answers. Some people will become a world traveler, searching the most remote places to find themselves, while others will walk away from everything they have ever known to start over. For me, I headed to the gym. I managed to build enough strength to push myself past the first 2 weeks of being really uncomfortable and out of place. I tuned out all the noise of my family, friends and acquaintances to the point where I was asked if I "broke up with them" or was told by crying friends, "I miss you. When will I see you again?". But I had to kept my head down and focus on myself because I was trying to find the answers to that question, "Who am I?".

I bet you are wondering if I ever solved that age old question. My answer may surprise you. No. I didn't find out who I am and I don't think we can answer that question. Life is ever changing, each day is different bringing a new meaning to "Who am I?". We only live this life once and I believe we are characters in our lives, changing with the times, sometimes we are strong characters in the leading role and other times we are very weak ones. But, I do believe that there is ONE CHARACTER, deep with in us, that we believe we are or can be or, more importantly, should be, for ourselves. So my question to you is not "Who are you?". My question to you is "What character are you?" What do you want the world to know about you? Characters are defined as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. Let people know the real person you are. Don't hide behind a phone, a picture or an emoji. Show the the world your CHARACTER. I know my CHARACTER. I promise you will know who you are by the CHARACTER you chose.

(The artist that painted this mural I am standing in front of is Efren Andaluz. Andaluz completed the mural on July 31, 2016 with some assistance from his friend Shawn "Sinz" Williams. It's truly AMAZING!!)
